RISE in Print: A West London Architect’s Perspective in Domus Nova’s Autumn Edition

Written by Sean Hill | Nov 26, 2025

Our feature in Domus Nova’s Autumn Edition

Some moments arrive quietly yet carry weight. Our inclusion in Domus Nova’s Autumn Edition is one of them. As a West London architect working at the intersection of sustainability and design, being invited into this publication feels like a recognition of the purpose that has shaped RISE since the beginning: make architecture that matters, reduce energy use at every scale, and place people at the centre of every decision.

A glimpse of Domus Nova’s Autumn Edition, featuring RISE Design Studio’s perspective on sustainable architecture in West London.

A perspective shaped by Queen’s Park

With so much of our work rooted in this part of the city, representing the area as a Queen’s Park architect felt especially meaningful. The editorial sits within their guide to the neighbourhood and reflects the way we’ve come to understand the place: a community built on independence, authenticity, and a quiet openness to new ideas. It is a context that has informed many of our extensions, retrofits and low-energy transformations across West London.

Domus Nova’s team walked the same streets we know well, meeting the business owners, makers, and residents who give Queen’s Park its particular character. Their feature captures that relationship between architecture and place, which is central to how we work.

The photo that tells a story

At the core of the editorial is a portrait of Imran and Sean set against the raw geometry of a Brutalist backdrop. For us, it symbolises the values we return to again and again as sustainable architects in West London. Material honesty. Thoughtful form. Light as a tool for comfort and clarity. It reflects not simply who we are as designers, but the kind of buildings we believe London needs.

Why this recognition matters

For a practice like ours, remaining purposeful and design-led takes commitment. Being featured as part of Domus Nova’s Autumn Edition offers a platform to share the ideas that guide RISE:

→ Architecture shaped by lived experience and human behaviour
→ Low-energy and low-carbon design as the foundation of every project
→ Spaces that evolve with their occupants
→ A responsibility to build with empathy, precision and environmental awareness

Across West London, we’re seeing growing demand for homes and spaces that do more than offer visual appeal. Clients want comfort, resilience, better air quality, reduced operational energy, and a positive relationship with their neighbourhood. As a Queen’s Park architect, this shift feels not only familiar but essential.

A milestone that looks forward

Appearing in Domus Nova’s Autumn Edition marks an important chapter in our studio’s journey. It highlights the kind of work we aspire to continue as architects in West London committed to sustainable, design-led solutions that last.

If you are exploring a renovation, extension, retrofit or new build and want to understand how a low-energy, place-sensitive approach could shape your project, we would be delighted to talk.
